Veteran Services 

The purpose of Veteran Services is to promote housing stability among very low income veterans and their families who are at risk of of or are currently homeless.


Veteran Services is a joint project between the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Catholic Charities. It is a product of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families grant through the VA and aligns with the VA's goal to end veteran homelessness by 2015. This project is part of the New Prevention Initiative launched by Veterans Assistance (VA) to serve 22,000 veteran families at-risk of homelessness.Texas has one of the highest percentages of veterans in the US, with 1,581,873 in the state. 

This joint project between the VA and CCFW is purposed to promote housing stability among low income veterans and their families who are at risk of or are currently homeless. SSVF promotes housing stability among low income veterans, linking veterans to needed benefits, both public and VA, and providing short-term assistance to set veteran households up for long-term stability. Service Criteria

  • Veteran must be a member of the household
  • Household must be at or below 50% AMI
  • Household must be living in permanent housing or have the goal of obtaining permanent housing

Locations

SSVF will operate throughout all of Tarrant and Denton counties, as well as Dallas and Collin counties, in partnership with the Urban League of Greater Dallas and North Central Texas. Street outreach services will also be provided in Tarrant and Denton counties.
