Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program
The Unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM) program serves foreign born children from war-torn countries who have arrived in the United states without a parent or an adult caregiver. They are refugees, asylees, or victims of trafficking in their teens. They all have incredible stories of faith, determination and survival. The URM program partners with foster families to provide children with a safe, nurturing, culturally sensitive environment that equips and empowers them to reach their full potential. Services are designed to meet the needs of each unaccompanied refugee minor and may include tutoring, mentoring, independent living skills training, cultural activities, legal assistance, mental health services, intensive case management and education/ESL classes. Training, support groups and a monthly stipend are provided to assist foster parents in the care and development of the child.
