Read to children at the Assessment Center
The Assessment Center is the only shelter in Tarrant County for abused and/or neglected children, ages infant to 13 years. The children come to the Assessment Center through Child Protective Services. To volunteer your time to read to these children is a rewarding service and inspiring for the children. Please telephone to coordinate the day and time. Evenings are also available.

These clients benefit significantly from outside activity.
Assist ESL teacher in teaching refugees and immigrants English

Help is needed at all the Catholic Charities office sites including Fort Worth, Bedford and Arlington. Duties where help is needed vary by location.
Organize drives for specific needs

Drives are an excellent way to volunteer and make significant change in the lives of others. Volunteer groups may also sign up to be called on during times of emergency or disaster response.
Help set up an apartment for refugee families
Refugees flee to our country for safety. Upon their arrival, they have nothing with them to begin a new life. Volunteers are needed to begin the resettlement process, including but not limited to things such as kitchen set up, teaching basic life skills, budgeting education and various other tasks that are new to our refugees. It is recommended that a group, small or large, take on this project. Donations of household items are always welcome for this program.
Serve as a mentor to children, women and men
Volunteers serving as mentors would be working with the CARE program, which is a child abuse and neglect prevention program. Mentors help guide families in need with various issues that have been identified, as well as help children meet their academic potential.
Provide childcare while refugee parents are in classes
Volunteers serving in this capacity would oversee children of refugees while parents attend various classes at Catholic Charities. A safe area with toys and books is used while in childcare.
